Boardman River Sanitary Sewer Relocation and River Wall Stabilization
A Vital Infrastructure Upgrade Beneath Traverse City’s Historic Waterfront
HRC provided design and construction engineering for the Boardman River Sanitary Sewer Relocation and River Wall Stabilization. The failing 24-inch clay sanitary sewer was relocated and upsized to a 30-inch PVC sanitary sewer pipe, with required paving and construction activities included, and installation of sheet piling on the existing concrete river wall. The design included new sanitary sewer leads to local businesses, ornamental sheet pile capping, and railing installation. During the project, pedestrian access was maintained to shops and restaurants along Boardman Avenue, downtown Traverse City’s main thoroughfare, a popular tourist destination.
